Sketch House

We were commissioned by the University of the Arts London to design a trio of large scale mural designs for three of their newly renovated student hall buildings, Sketch House, the Highline Building and Will Wyatt Court. The Sketch House illustration is a gentle hill that captures the up-and-coming Finsbury Park area.

Known mainly for its enormous green space, Finsbury park is an area of North London, that just like the rest of the city, is changing all the time. One development is Sketch House, a new 430 bedroom halls building for students of the University of the Arts London.

Briefed to capture the interesting features of the surrounding area, Arsenal football club’s highly impressive Emirates Stadium, as well as the Finsbury Park station itself, were two stand-out landmarks in what was predominantly a residential area, that is currently undergoing transformation.

Adjacent to the halls, and hidden amongst our design is the Park Theatre, which as well as being a top cultural destination, is also a very well respected café and bar. They may experience an increase in visitors between the ages of 18-25 from now on.

Our cityscape design can be found spanning across one long wall of Sketch House’s common room. With a robust, modern interior design by Johnson Ribolla, this hangout has a large television and various table-top sports games. We’re happy to be the background to what will be many goings-on over the years.
